Post-surgery rehabilitation at home

Why home rehab works after surgery

The early weeks after surgery are when the most can go wrong — too much rest and joints stiffen, too much activity and tissues flare. A physiotherapist who visits your home can dose your daily activity correctly, manage swelling, and progress you safely. You skip the painful car journeys and the risk of a slip in a hospital car park.

What we cover

Total knee replacement, total hip replacement, ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, rotator cuff repair, spinal decompression, fracture fixation, and abdominal surgery rehabilitation. Each follows the surgeon's timeline for weight-bearing, range of motion, and return to activity.

A typical 8–12 week journey

Weeks 1–2 focus on protecting the surgery, managing pain and swelling, and re-establishing safe movement. Weeks 3–6 progressively load the joint and rebuild basic strength. Weeks 7–12 close the gap to your normal life — stairs without a rail, walking distances, getting back to work, sport, or driving. Each phase is reassessed before progressing.

Frequently asked

When can rehab start after surgery?

Usually within the first week — sometimes earlier — depending on your surgeon's protocol. We'll align with their plan.

Which surgeries do you support recovery from?

Knee and hip replacements, ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, spinal surgery, fracture fixation, and abdominal surgery rehabilitation.

Do you bring equipment to the home?

Yes — your physio arrives with resistance bands, mobility aids for assessment, and any small equipment your protocol needs.

How long is a typical post-op programme?

Most knee and hip programmes run 8–12 weeks of supervised sessions, tapering as you regain strength and independence.
